Candle Care Guide from Lawrencetown Candle Co:
The first burn is super important, let your candle burn for at least 1-2 hours the first time. This will ensure that your candle develops a full melt pool and will prevent tunneling.
Always trim your candle’s wick to 1/4” before each burn. A long wick equals shorter burn time and less hot throw.
Burn your candle for no more than 4 hours at a time. DO NOT BURN BELOW 1/2”. Once your candle has about 1/2” of wax left it is time to stop burning. The last 1/2” of wax should be left to protect the bottom of your candle jar from getting too hot. Once it's at this point it's time to pick out your next candle!
Keep your candles melt pool free of any debris. Bits of wick or matches left in your candle can cause black soot, smoke and an unpleasant smell. This is one tip that you shouldn’t ignore.
Kids and pets are cute but they don’t mix well with an unattended candle. Make sure to burn your candle in a safe space that is free of drafts. To avoid burning yourself please avoid touching or moving your candle until it has fully cooled.
